What areas can be treated?
We can treat the tiny veins on your face called telangiectasia, the red or purple spider veins on the face or body as well, the mid-size veins. Blood blisters or “hemangiomas” respond well to vein therapy, usually in just one treatment. Also patients with port wine stains are overwhelmed by the success of vein therapy. However, this treatment is not used to treat bulging varicose veins. We will evaluate whether your veins are appropriate for this treatment (or another) at the time of your free consultation.
What does the treatment feel like?
As our laser delicately heats the vessels, patients may experience a mild to moderate stinging sensation. However, the discomfort is minimized by constant cooling of the skins surface. No pain medication is required and following the treatment the pain is minimal to non-existent.
How does it work?
Our medical grade laser system delivers pulses of light energy which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later absorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skins surface, where it should be.
How many treatments will you need?
The number depends on the quantity, color and size of the vessels being treated, but typically 1 to 3 treatments are sufficient.
How long does the treatment take?
The length of time depends on the size of the treatment area but each treatment typically takes 5 - 15 minutes per area.
How much does it cost?
This depends on the extent of what you would like to have treated. If you’d like to make an appointment for a consultation, we can give you a specific idea as to the number of treatments and the price. Payment options and gift certificates are available and the consultation is always free.
What are the side effects?
Most patients report few if any side effects. Those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and slight swelling. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours.
Are there any restrictions on my activity after the treatment?
You may return to normal activities immediately afterwards. However, we recommend that you avoid vigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after a treatment.
What can you expect?
Small vessels usually disappear immediately. Larger vessels, especially those on the legs, often look worse before they look better but will clear up over a matter of a few days to a few weeks. If you are having leg vein therapy we advise you wear support hose for a short period of time.
Can anyone have it done?
Yes. Adults of all ages and most skin tones can benefit from vein therapy and can have it done year round. We can even treat tanned skin.
