How it works
The Laser Vein Clinic uses the VenaCure Endovascular Laser System to preform the Endovascular Laser Therapy (EVLT) procedure. The VenaCure EVLT procedure is minimally invasive and is performed in our office located at 464 Welland Ave in St. Catharines, Ontario. This procedure addresses both the cosmetic and medical issues associated with varicose veins.

- Two preliminary ultrasounds are scheduled. The first is a venous insufficiency ultrasound preformed at Greater Niagara Medical Imaging (GNMI), once the results of that test have been read, you will come to our office for a second, quick ultrasound which the Doctor will use to determin which procedure best suits your specific needs and an appointment date is scheduled.

- On the day of the procedure a laser light emitted through a thin fiber inserted into the damaged vein that delivers just a small amount of energy, causing the malfunctioning vein to close and seal shut.

- Veins that are treatable with the VenaCure EVLT system are superficial veins. Laser therapy with the VenaCure EVLT system is indicated for varicose veins and varicosities with superficial reflux of the Greater Saphenous Vein, and in the treatment of incompetent refluxing veins in the superficial venous system in the lower limb.

- After the VenaCure EVLT procedure, your body will naturally route blood flow to other veins.

- Bulging and pain in the damaged and now-sealed vein will subside after the procedure.

- Because VenaCure EVLT vein treatment eliminates varicose veins where they start, the results can be obvious right away.

Following the procedure thigh-high compression socks with a rating of 20-30mmHg must be worn for the following 48 hours. During this time normal physical activity is encouraged, while strenuous activity should be avoided for the next 7-14 days.

After treatment, there may be slight swelling and bruising, but that will subside and you will see a significant difference in the appearance of your legs, with minimal-to-no bruising.
